Former world champion Lee Selby is not taking any changes with the coronavirus pandemic, explained that underlying health issues with his partner and young daughter will make him reluctant to return to boxing gyms until he is certain it’s safe.
Selby’s final eliminator for the IBF lightweight title against George Kambosos Jr. was among the many bouts postponed due to the pandemic.
Selby’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, is crossing his fingers that boxing can return July 11.
The fight with Kambosos was pushed back to July 11, but that date could easily get pushed back even further – depending on the restrictions in the UK.
“We’re planning to get boxing back up and running at the end of June, certainly July we will be in full flow behind closed doors, for sure,” Hearn said.
